Co2 - capture and storage

The Nordic countries are involved in a number of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) research and pilot projects. Coordination and dialogue between various national players at the Nordic level is vital for the successful development of Nordic competence.

Closer cooperation will strengthen the region’s position as CCS expert in the EU and globally. Coordination and cooperation can improve the best Nordic methods and technologies and help the region to achieve the CO2 reduction goals.

An overview of ongoing national activities and priorities will be the basis for the CCS program creating synergies and efficiency, hence Nordic cooperation can achieve greater results than separate national initiatives. The CCS program will facilitate cooperation between stakeholders; industry, researchers and policy makers.

The program committee of the CCS sub-programme will launch a call at the end of year 2009. The objective is to initiate cooperation, concrete actions and implementation of Nordic know-how and technology within CCS.

The focus will be on the Nordic region and Nordic activities and possible relations to the EU and international activities.

The budget for the CCS program is approximately 40 MNOK over five years.
