Nordic Top-level Research Initiative an inspiration for Baltic cooperation

The Nordic model of joining forces in the fields of innovation and research can be expanded to other countries in the region, said Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lene Espersen at the Baltic Development Forum in Vilnius, June 2nd.

At the Baltic Development Forum, Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lene Espersen outlined the programme of the Danish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) in 2010 and also praised the new globalisation programme of the NCM.

She pointed in particular at the Nordic Top-level Research Initiative, created in 2008 to promote a stronger synergy in the combined efforts of the Nordic countries to develop climate, energy and environmental solutions.

- The Top-level Research Initiative could be an inspiration for a wider Baltic cooperation platform, and it shows how useful and natural it is for us to look for joint solutions to common problems, Espersen said.
