The Top-level Research Initiative – a Nordic flagship
– The Top-level Research Initiative contributes in a concrete and visible manner to the Nordic region’s leading position within climate and energy, states the Danish Minister for Nordic Co-operation, Bertel Haarder, as Denmark takes on the 2010 Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
- The Nordic countries are already in leading positions within energy technology and the environment, Haarder states in a feature article in Kristelig Dagblad. During the Danish Presidency, he will contribute to the progress of the ambitious Top-level Research Initiative, which he refers to as a flagship within the Nordic globalisation effort. Synergies between national and the EU financed research programmes will contribute to developing sustainable energy and climate solutions in the Nordic region.
- The financial crisis has shown that we are vulnerable, and that we need to stick together, Haarder continues in his speech. If we can show the other European member states that the Nordic countries (…) have found concrete answers to the challenges of the future, we can set an example and at the same time contribute to promoting Nordic leading issues.
