Preliminary results presented at CCS workshop

The sub-program CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS) organized a Nordic CCS workshop in Copenhagen on the 2nd of June 2010. The event assembled some 40 participants from research institutions, companies and environmental organisations.

Preliminary results of two studies were presented to the participants: CCS potentials in the Nordic region headed  by the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and CCS and renewable energy led by Norwegian Sund Energy AS from Norway. The studies include general overviews of ongoing R&D activities within the area, with the aim of possible connections for joint research and innovation projects in the future. The participants had the opportunity to contribute to these studies and were thus able to help shape the content of the Nordic call for project proposals within CCS. The event served as a good networking platform for further cooperation within CCS in the Nordic region.

The studies will be finalized and published by the end of September 2010. During autumn 2010, the programme committee will develop a call for project proposals based on the results from the Nordic CCS workshop and the studies. The objective of the call will be to initiate cooperation, concrete actions and implementation of Nordic know-how within CCS. The focus will be on the Nordic region and activities with possible links to EU and international initiatives. The budget for the call is approximately NOK 35 million.
